On the 14th of November in 1986, I opened my eyes for the first time. I grew up in the magnificent 13th century village of Monpazier in the southwest of France. Saturated in the history and aesthetics of this area, all that my eyes saw was true beauty. I suppose that is what inspired me initially. By the age of 14, I had started to learn the craft of photography. It became a real passion and remains so to this day.
While remaining in the southwest of France, I obtained my first photography degree, a CAP Photographe, in Bordeaux. After that, I attended another school in Orthez where I graduated magna cum laude with a second degree, a Baccalauréat Professionnel de Photographie. During my scholarship, I've learned all photography aspects: the shootings in studio and outsides; the lightings; the black&white and colour films & papers development in darkroom; all kind of cameras use (35mm, medium format, large format, digitals cameras); the digital darkroom use, mostly with Photoshop; the framing; the photography history.
That also gave me the opportunity to do trainings with professional photographers. So I trained with portraitists (Alain Vergez, Etienne Barthes), fashion photographer (Ilan Sabban at Happy Day's Studio, Paris), commercial photographer (Franck Brunet d'Aubiac, Bordeaux), the photographic department of the museums of Bordeaux, the Chateau d'Eau Gallery of Toulouse. I learned a lot from each of them and that will help me with my own career.
However, as I found it difficult to find work as a photographer, I was forced to work outside of photography for a while. A fortuitous event in the summer 2006 brought my professional life back on track. It was then that I met a french painter named Marie Lacroix Pecore who now lived and worked on the coast of Texas. We got to know each other and I had the opportunity to do an art and marketing internship with her in Texas.
Working with an artist who also believes in my photographic talent motivated and inspired me to uphold my passion and try to build my career on it. I started by a return to the real photography: the “homemade” black&white photographs after a wile in digital. So I built my own darkroom and start to expose my artwork in a gallery in Goliad, Texas. The next show is coming up this summer in Port Aransas, Texas. Hopefully, some other exhibits will follow…
It's a pleasure for me to share with you all the beautiful things my eyes see!
